Hey. So, I've been gone a long time. I've seen some pages with nothing but vandalism, but I don't know what the whole site is like. I've deleted two pages which were created by vandals. If there is anything that anyone has seen that is in desperate need of fixing, please report it here!
Hi all. I need to make an important announcement. Unfortunately, due to real life commitments, and my activity on other wikis, I have been unable to keep this wiki as up to date as I would like to. Because I can't come here all the time, and after my 2 month hiatus, I have decided that I need a new admin.
A new admin wouldn't need to do a lot, just making the occasional edit, and help remove vandalism. If between us we can make sure the wiki is checked at least once a week for page corrections / updates / fixes etc, it will do better for the wiki overall.
What do I need to do to be promoted?
You must have a strong knowledge of wikis. This includes how to correctly format pages and have advanced skills or can at least perform more complicated tasks without asking for help (Google is your friend after all).
You must have had an account on Wikia for at least a month, and be relatively active on ANY wiki (even better if it is one that I admin, or if you admin on a decent sized wiki).
You need to have a few edits on this wiki of any kind besides comments (I will not give fixed numbers to avoid people making spammy edits, but I have an idea in mind).
You must know, understand, and have read every rule and policy we have, and know how pages are written on this page.
You have written a complete page written on this wiki (or if it is too hard to find a good page for it, try on another wiki that I admin on), that is not a script (so an episode page or a person page).
You have reported and/or corrected pages with issues such as vandalism, bad edits from new users and pages with other general issues (show your diffs - if you don't know what a diff is, you have failed the first dot point).
Bad edits or a history of blocks elsewhere will likely lead to a disqualification.
I hope to have someone promoted by the end of January, so there is a lot of time to make sure you have met the requirements, and I will consider promoting multiple people. So, please take your time, and don't make 50 edits in one go - this will make you look less qualified!
Register your interest here, and report any issues you think are relevant either here or on my wall. Don't apply if you haven't already met at least most of the above requirements already. I don't want to deal with "I'll do it" types who make zero effort after applying. You have two months to apply. Also, write a a sentence about why you would make a good admin to make sure that you are actually reading this.
Don't worry about template upgrades, as I'm well aware of those issues. I'm talking bad unfinished scripts, users who have deleted plot sections / other vandalism, pages from new users that don't fit with the rest of the wiki's formatting etc.
What will my roles be?
I really just need to have someone to help check pages for vandalism and fix it (especially during nighttime in my timezone, as that is when most of the vandalism has occurred in the past), as well as correcting new user edits. You may also wish to update the list of episodes pages, or participate in any other form of maintenance.
You won't need to write large synopsis pages, or be required to write any new content at all unless you want to. This role is purely a fixing / anti-vandal position.
What if no one cares?
Then there will be no change. I've tried and failed with getting a growing community on this wiki before, so I don't expect much interest. Is anyone THAT interested in being in charge of a JonTron community? I doubt it. I don't expect to get much interest. If in the likely case that no one applies or no one meets the requirements, I will try to make sure to do a better job here over the summer then I have over the past 6 months. I will go through each and every page on this wiki over summer to make sure that they still are good quality.
Should I tell Reddit?
Whenever the subreddit asks for admins, they get swamped by many people offering. I would suggest that if you must tell anyone on Reddit, ask the admins there first, and / or only tell someone who you think would be a good candidate. I have had a bad history of people from the subreddit coming here to vandalise whenever we are mentioned there, so please be careful if you choose to do so.
Overall, it would be nice to just have someone to come here once a day or once a week to fix up stuff that I can't. This wiki isn't as higher priority to me as other wikis I admin, but I don't want this wiki to suffer because of that. Sorry for the way too long post, I tend to write essays with this kind of thing.
Sorry. I forgot to get back to you! I was going to convert the page into a page for the actor, since he has appeared in two videos. I've been taking some time off from this wiki for the past month, and forgot about you, so thanks for returning the message.
As for wiki size, the number of pages isn't what is important. It is what is on the pages. Having a lot of info about the people behind the show, and the episodes themselves is more important than a big number. I'll be coming back to this wiki in about a week to help out again. I've been caught up with real life stuff.
Unfortunatly, characters can only get a page if they have been in two episodes (due to having pages that are way too small), so sorry about that. To answer your question, it depends which editor you use. If you have a form, there should be an image box, where you type the name of the file eg. "Jon.jpg". If you are using code, type "image = jon.jpg".
Edit: by the way, what you worte was actually very good. It only struggles because there is so little to write. I would love to find something for you to do, but it is hard on this wiki due to the lack of content.
I don't see a reason to. There are very few people here. If people started to use the forums a lot, and there were enough people here, I would do it. Right now, the chat would simply never be used, and I wouldn't always be available to monitor it anyway. Sorry.
I am very concerned at the way new editors are editing pages lately. There have been multiple users blanking synopsis (or plot - that's a matter that requires discussion) sections. Be aware that this is NOT ALLOWED, and repeated blanking will result in a block.
Also, I need to point out that if a page has a script, it MUST have a current synopsis / plot section or the script is to be removed. If you remove a synopsis with a script on it (as it says in our guidelines about making scripts), the page is no longer a valid page.
Please don't do this. It is very concerning to me that people are disregarding (usually) my work. If you have a problem with spelling or grammar mistakes in synopsis sections, either explain it on the talk page, fix it yourself, or ask me on my wall. I will be more than happy to help fix my writing. Let this be the last time I see pages being blanked.
Hi. Jon briefly mentions "The Legend of the Titanic" at the end of the "Titanic: The Legend Goes On" episode (as seen on its wiki page ). As far as I know, Legend of the Titanic never had its own episode. Watch the end of that episode . Is this what you were thinking of?
Sadly yes. They just want to take over everything with Jon's name on it and try to bully actual JonTron fans away. It's not a nice place. Even the mods are having a hard time controlling them.
Yeah, most JonTron communities have been swamped by that horrible culture from r/JonTron (even this one did before I took over), and this community isn't big enough to have discussion. I would suggest to try r/normalboots.
Don't worry. It's no longer in effect, and achieved what it was supposed to. The vandals left at the same time as this came in, and they never came back when it was removed. It wasn't just one IP address that was causing the issue, there were many different people vandalising, only one was confirmed to be from Reddit. This is old news now, and you've done nothing wrong. It's just that AWC's tend to gain a bad reputation sadly.
A poll would be easier, but I'm trying something out. I want to see if people will actually make an edit, and maybe even have a discussion. Also, as I'm making an option to have a least favorite episode, I would need to have a second poll, and it may make it more confusing. If a poll is preferred, I would be fine with switching it.
It's time for the JonTron episode tourney! 45 episodes will enter the tournament, one will emerge victorious! Every few weeks, I will make a forum asking for you guys to vote for your favorite episode in a group of videos. The video that comes last each time will be eliminated.
Rules
Each person (not IP address or username) can vote for 1 episode in each match.
You do not need an account to vote, nor do you have to have any edits on this wiki at all!
Normal site rules apply: no spam, no vandalism, no memes etc. Discussion and comparison between the episodes is encouraged.
A voter must simply type in the name of the episode that they vote for (preferably in bold text). Feel free to link it to the wiki page, or link to the video itself.
Feel free to say why you voted for an episode.
You may also vote for your least favorite episode in each group. Please state that it is your least favorite so it can be voted for separately. In the case of a hung vote (two episodes have the same score), the episode with the highest least favorite score will be eliminated.
Voting will be open for two weeks from when the thread is posted, AND the match must have at least 20 votes. If a vote is hung and inconclusive, the match will stay open until a deciding vote is cast.
The match will stay open until at least 20 votes are counted. If only a few people vote or no one votes at all, the competition may be shortened dramatically, or will be cancelled entirely. I have literally no idea how popular something like this would be. If it is something you want, that's great! If not, consider it an experiment, and it will quickly die.
Multi-part episodes will count as one candidate. StarCade episodes all appear seperately. Only actual Episodes count. Top 10's, Reviews? and other videos won't compete in this tournament.
How the competition will work
Round 1: 45 episodes (1 of which has not been released yet! If an episode is not uploaded by the time it's match begins, it will not be included.), will be split into 9 groups of 5. The episode that comes last in each group will be eliminated.
Round 2: This will then take the field down to 36. There will be 8 groups of 4. The episodes that come last in each group will once again be eliminated.
Round 3: This will then take the field down to 28. There will be 4 groups of 7 episodes. The episodes that come last and second last in each group are eliminated.
Round 4: This will then take the field down to 20. There will be 4 groups of 5 episodes. The episode that comes last in each group will be eliminated.
Round 5: This will then take the field down to 16. There will be 4 groups of 4 episodes. The episode that comes last in each group will be eliminated.
Round 6: This will then take the field down to 12. There will be 3 groups of 4 episodes. The episode that comes last in each group will be eliminated.
Quarter Finals: This will then take the field down to 8. There will be 2 groups of 4 episodes. The episode that comes last will be eliminated.
Semi Finals: This will then take the field down to 6. There will be 3 groups of 2 episodes. The episode that loses will be eliminated.
Grand Final: This will mean that the final will be between 3 episodes. The episode with the most votes in the final will win overall.
The episode that comes in last place in both matches will be eliminated from the competition. The matches were randomly generated to avoid any chance of bias.
Cast your votes in the comments below! If you have any questions, you can put them into the comments below too.
Hello JonTron wikia. I have just updated the layout for the wikia. It now uses a Normal Boots theme, with the greens and browns used in the Normal Boots logo. I've used this same theme over at the PeanutButterGamer wiki, and it seemed to go over well there. If you feel a need to discuss the new theme, you have a chance to discuss it here.
It has come to my attention that excluding myself, more than half of this wikia's edits are made by malicious anonymous editiors who just want to vandalise it. While some of it is from the JonTron subreddit brigading us, a lot of it is just idiots vandalising pages, especially the Jacques and Malkovich pages, as well as scripts.
So, as a trial period for the entire of September, I will be turning anonymous editing off. If people want to make any edits, they will be forced into making an account. I've been thinking about this for a while, but it seems that every weekend now, I have to clean up after vandals, and I'm sick of it. I will re-enable anonymous editing again in October, and depending on how those two months compare, I'll make a decision on whether or not to leave it off.
I'm sorry for the anonymous contributors who have contributed well, but you guys are a very small minority. If anyone wants to ask questions or share their thoughts or give other solutions on how to tackle the issue, feel free to leave it here. I want to give as much warning as possible before I switch anonymous editing off. I didn't want it to come to this, but I see no other way. Once again, I'm sorry.
